Our approach
Nusan is built privacy-first. We collect as little as possible, keep your data on your device by default, and never store your audio. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Speech audio — not stored. When you use Voice or Conversation mode, audio is processed in memory and discarded immediately. It is never written to disk and never sent to a permanent store.
- Text for translation. The text to be translated is sent through our secure proxy to a translation provider, used only to return your translation. It is not used to identify you or for advertising.
- Camera images — not stored. In Camera mode, frames are processed live to read text and discarded. Nothing is saved unless you explicitly save a result.
- History & phrasebook. Stored locally on your device. If you are a Pro subscriber and opt in, an encrypted backup can be stored in the cloud.
- Account details (optional). If you sign in, we store your email or Apple sign-in token to manage your account and subscription.
- A per-install identifier. Used only to enforce free daily limits for guests. Not linked to your identity and not used for tracking.
- Usage analytics (opt-in only). If you choose to enable analytics, anonymous usage metrics are collected via a privacy-focused, EU-hosted provider. Off by default.
- Crash reports. Diagnostic crash data with no personal content, to keep the app stable.
What we never do
- We do not store your raw audio or camera images.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising identifier and no ad networks.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Service providers
We use trusted processors to operate Nusan: OpenAI (translation), Cloudflare (secure API proxy), Supabase (accounts & encrypted backup), Sentry (crash diagnostics), PostHog (opt-in, EU-hosted analytics), and Resend (transactional email). Each processes data only as needed to provide the service. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EU, PDPA in Malaysia, UU PDP in Indonesia), you have the right to access, correct, export, and delete your data, and to withdraw consent at any time.
- Export your history and profile as JSON from within the app.
- Delete everything with "Delete account & data," which removes your cloud data and clears local data.
- Withdraw consent for analytics or cloud backup at any time in settings.
Data retention
Audio: zero — discarded immediately. Local history: until you delete it. Cloud backup: until you delete it or close your account. Operational logs (no message content): kept briefly for reliability.
Children
Nusan is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
